Spam/Scam sent as PM from a new user

I guess I am not the only one who received a message with an embedded link from ethan_collins8029, a user (presumably a bot) who just registered a few hours ago and hasn’t taken part in any discussions.

It would be nice if that could be disallowed. In any case, the rules for including links should be the same for PMs as for public posts - i.e., new users not being allowed to send links.

There’s a whole lot of spam being sent, I got messages from @lauren_bailey9110. I also see @lauren_collins7220, @lauren_howard7016, @ethan_cox7776, @ethan_bell8311 etc.

I got a spam PM from @hannah_nelson4157. The list of such bots must be long.

Hi @obsidianjulua,

Saw your thread on “[ANN] RepliBuild.jl - A full C/C++ interop toolkit for tiered FFI generatio” — if you are pressed for time with data analysis, experiment scripts, or structured IMRaD research writeups this term, you can submit your brief and rubric parameters through the STEM Research & Statistical Analysis Desk on CampusNotes — it covers reproducible code, statistical modeling, and full academic report formatting.

You can review the turnaround options and parameters for your project directly on the page.

Terrible

Obviously a pattern, the basic name snakecase and 4 numbers, its propably a python guy a Julia user would have used CamelCase lmao

Same here from ethan_collins8029

I guess there is no need in trying to make exhaustive list - that might be a moving target.
