Hi! I am sharing this announcement with the community, given the benefits of using Julia for sustainable ML, AI, and simulations. It would be great if someone from the community could showcase such benefits at that Workshop. Best,
Dear Colleague,
The CECAM-Lorentz collaboration calls for researchers to organize the eleventh annual CECAM-Lorentz Workshop to be held at the Lorentz Center, Leiden, the Netherlands, between January and May 2026.
The CECAM-Lorentz program funds a leading-edge workshop in computational simulation and modeling and its application in molecular simulations and related areas. We seek an innovative scientific program that takes us beyond our current boundaries in an open and interactive format with few lectures.
Although all topics are welcome, in this year’s call, we aim to specifically encourage proposals addressing the question of sustainable computing.
How can scientific software be made more energy efficient? Possible topics include, but are not limited to, sustainable codes for atomistic and molecular simulations, data science, scientific image analysis, or sustainable ML/AI.Organizing teams and participant lists that reflect an interdisciplinary spirit, as well as a clear motivation for the chosen interdisciplinary approach, are particularly encouraged. Diversity in gender, geographical provenance, career stage, and so forth, of organizers and participants is strongly advised and will be considered in evaluating the proposals.
In the first round, an expression of interest should be submitted through the CECAM website: CECAM - submit CECAM-Lorentz proposalThe call will be open until 13 November 2024, and short-listed applications will be invited to present a full application by 10 January 2025. The outcome will be communicated by the end of February 2025.
You will find enclosed the call poster; we would be grateful if you could disseminate it within your network.
