We released v0.5.0 of the julia extension for VS Code. This is a massive update over previous versions. You can see installation instructions and little screen casts of the new features here:

Is there any plan to integrate plots?
Yes, but not clear when we will get to that. I think right now we are more focused on the static analysis stuff, i.e. the core editing experience.
There is also work going on to move the Jupyter stuff from the Python extension into a separate package so that it also works with julia, and that would also enable plotting.
I agree, those are valid points…
