At Graystone Trading we’re building what we believe is the next generation of high frequency and systematic trading platforms, with Julia as its backbone. Over the last 3 years we bootstrapped the company with a small team of dedicated and experienced thinkers and tinkerers. We are now ready for our next phase of growth, and would like to invite any of you who have an interest in Julia or trading to come talk with us. We’re primarily looking to hire in Malta, and we’ll work to relocate new hires if necessary. Some our team are based in London and we plan to open an office there next year, so this is also option.

The Company
Graystone Trading is a systematic and quantitative financial trading company located in London and Malta. We build bespoke systems and conduct first principles research to gain an edge in the markets. Technology is core to our success, but ultimately an enabler for our people. Our team in Malta are looking for driven and highly motivated individuals to join in our mission to grow our business globally. You will be early in your career, eager to learn from more experienced engineers and researchers in the trading space, and ready to apply yourself in a smaller firm to find what your skills are really made of. The market potentials are substantial, and we reward everyone in the team with shares of the revenue we create. In the early innings of a rapid growth phase, there will be potential for promotion to leadership positions and for international transfers for those who prove themselves outstandingly capable.
The Day To Day
With time you may specialize in particular areas of focus, but as a small team we expect everyone to contribute where most needed. The work spans exchange facing trading systems, analytics and surveillance tools, deployment engineering, trading operations, strategy development, and more. Julia is our primary language; experience is not required.
Requirements
Candidates must have all of these:
- Technical or quantitative degree, with high academic achievement.
- Systems programming experience.
- High appreciation for software quality.
- Deep internal motivation and competitive nature.
Desirables
Ideal candidates should fulfill some of these:
- Experience with performance oriented design and optimization.
- Good grasp of data structures and algorithm development.
- Strong foundation in statistics, and experience with machine learning.
- Experience with AWS.
- Experience with Docker.
- Deep understanding of Linux.
- Network programming.
