Coharts is looking for a Julia Software Engineer (1–3 YOE) to join our founding engineering team and build high-performance simulation systems that model complex, multi-variable dynamical processes.
This isn’t a “we use Julia for scripts” role. Julia is our primary language, and you’d be writing production simulation engines from day one.
What the work looks like:
You’d design and optimize solvers for stiff ODE/SDE/DAE systems using the SciML ecosystem (DifferentialEquations.jl, ModelingToolkit.jl, Optimization.jl). You’d profile and benchmark simulation workloads, explore GPU acceleration with CUDA.jl, and deploy pipelines on cloud infrastructure. You’d work directly alongside domain scientists and mathematicians to turn complex models into fast, reliable code.
What we’re looking for:
- Real proficiency in Julia, production or serious research-grade code, not just “I’ve done the tutorials”
- Hands-on SciML experience and comfort with numerical methods
- Strong math foundation (calculus, linear algebra, numerical stability)
- Ability to reason about time/space complexity and debug gnarly numerical issues
Bonus points for distributed computing experience (MPI, SLURM), GPU programming, or any background in pharmacometrics, systems biology, or agent-based simulation.
What we offer:
- Founding-stage equity alongside competitive comp
- Legitimate scientific computing problems with real-world impact, not toy demos
- A team that actually reads the papers before writing the code
- Flexible remote work
- Opportunity to contribute back to the Julia open-source ecosystem as part of your job
We’re early-stage and well-funded, working at the intersection of mechanistic modeling, computational science, and AI. We can’t say much more publicly yet but if you’re curious, we’re happy to share more in conversation.
If this sounds like the kind of Julia work you wish existed, reach out. Even if you’re not sure you’re senior enough, if you’ve shipped real Julia code and love this problem space, we want to talk.
