I’m exploring contributing to Julia internals and recently submitted a small README PR.
I’d like to continue contributing more meaningfully and deepen my understanding of the codebase.
Are there particular subsystems or areas that are considered good entry points for new contributors?
Any guidance on where help is most needed would be greatly appreciated.
In general, Base and the standard libraries are the good places to start if you are interested in the Julia repo itself. That said, I would recommend contributions to Julia packages before contributing to Julia itself. There is a lot more low hanging issues in the broader ecosystem.
For selection of packages, two IMO important criteria, one of which is obvious: It should somehow be of interest for you. Another one: Check issues and PRs, esp. the closed ones. What was the Time To First Response, how long did it take to close it?
