Tēnā koutou,
We’re happy to announce the fourth Auckland Julia meetup, taking place next Thursday, 2021-06-10T06:30:00Z, at the GridAKL Tech Café (John Lysaght building) in the Wynyard Quarter, Auckland.
The meetup will feature a talk by Dr Oscar Dowson (@odow) about JuMP:
JuMP: a modeling language for mathematical optimization
JuMP is a modeling language and set of supporting packages for mathematical optimization in Julia. In this talk we discuss the history and motivation for JuMP, highlight novel differences from other modeling languages, and provide examples of how JuMP is driving industrial impact in a variety of sectors. In addition, we discuss our plans to ensure the long-term sustainability of JuMP as an open-source project with a strong academic and industrial user-base.
Oscar is a core contributor to JuMP and member of the JuMP steering committee. He obtained his Ph.D. from the University of Auckland, New Zealand, where he worked on multistage stochastic programming algorithms applied to the dairy industry. He is funded to work on JuMP by the NSF grant OAC1835443.
While we’re lucky in that we can hold this event in person, we will also be streaming the meeting via Zoom – check the website for details on connecting. If you wish to attend, either in person or online, please sign up via the RSVP form. We’d also like to thank Massey University, the Marsden Fund and GridAKL for sponsoring this event.
Ngā mihi,
Morten and Ray (@yangmr04)
