Quoting posts with LaTeX equations?

I’ve noticed that if you try to quote a post with LaTeX equations, e.g. $O(n^3)$ for O(n^3), in the quoted text it gets mangled to something like O(n3)O(n^3). It would be nice if the original $O(n^3)$ were preserved.

That is indeed not a nice feature, because the content is lost or messed up.

If one quotes one of the longest equations ever recorded in discourse (see here), the result is totally obscene.

Better to right click on it and request to Show Math As > TeX Commands, and then copy it, etc.
