Final JuliaCon 2019 keynote announcement: Heather Miller

Hi everyone!

I’m happy to share that Heather Miller from the School of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University will be joining us as a keynote speaker at JuliaCon 2019. Professor Miller first became involved in the research and development, teaching, and community building of the open source Scala programming language as a graduate student. After finishing her PhD in Computer Science, she went on to co-found the Scala Center at EPFL and to serve as its Executive Director, while working as a research scientist at EPFL. Now at CMU, she continues to work on and around the Scala language and to pursue research in distributed and concurrent computation, including work that facilitates the construction of new, functional, and complex distributed systems. Join me in welcoming Professor Miller to JuliaCon 2019! For more details about our keynote speakers or the conference in general, please see the conference homepage at https://juliacon.org/2019/.
