Extremely slow execution time

While many people gripe about using Plots (and it’s therefore the go-to example for compilation time issues), this certainly isn’t expected. On v1.6:

This is a ~10 year old i7-2620m, so probably at the lower end of the hardware that anyone developing Julia is using today…

I have a 2019 MacBook Pro with:

  • 2.3 GHz 8-Core Intel Core i9
  • 16 GB 2400 MHz DDR4
  • Radeon Pro 560X 4 GB Intel UHD Graphics 630 1536 MB

I’m starting to think there is something wrong with my computer.

Which versions of Julia, Plots and Pluto are you using?

good news and tested that v1.6 is 2x faster in using Plots.

Have you started Pluto from within Julia? By chance are you not starting it from a web server? I had that experience before with Jupyter.

Thanks for your question. It turns out the battery in my MacBook was overheating. It was a hardware problem.
