Following up on a discussion in Slack’s #documentation channel, there is interest in starting up a working group and community calls that would focus on Julia documentation. The scope could be both documentation tooling (JuliaDocs and friends), but also the maintenance of the Julia manual and the documentation of core packages.

I think the first thing we should do is to get everyone interested in this together on a community call. I would propose the last week of October / first week of November for this (week 44; Mo 30 Oct - Fr 3 Nov). Borrowing the idea from the graphs community call, let’s do some polling to figure out what could be a good time for everyone interested in joining it:
We’ll let the poll run for a while and then update here with the time and date. We’ll also try to get it into the community calendar. @fredrikekre also put up a Google Doc where anyone can contribute topics we can discuss at the community call.

Alright, I think it’s time to close the polls. @fredrikekre and I looked at the poll results, and also considered conflicts with other calls etc, and we think that Tuesday 31 October at 1800 UTC would be a good time for the first call.
In your local timezone it should be: 2023-10-31T18:00:00Z→2023-10-31T19:00:00Z
It’s unlikely to be a perfect time for everyone, but I hope that most people who wish to join are able to! I’ll update this post with a calendar and Google Meet link a little bit later.

Happy to say that we had a great discussion two weeks ago, and the plan is to keep these meetings going! And between the meetings, we’ll have updates in Slack’s #documentation channel.
The decision was to keep these calls on the last Tuesday of every month at 18:00 UTC. As such, if you can, please do join for the next one in about two weeks
