Compute! Paris (ex PyData Paris ) 25-26 November 2026

I forward this email. PyData was historically focused on Python, but recently, it has broadened the scope to all open source data analysis languages and tools, including Julia.

The email is in French but the conference is in English, here the web sites:

[Edit]
I am not sure, it may be PyData Paris only that broaden scope, it seems PyData itself remained independent of Compute!

  • Mackenzie Mathis (DeepLabCut, EPFL)

  • Wolf Vollprecht (Pixi, Prefix.dev)

Bien cordialement,

Sylvain Corlay

Hi all,

I am from the Compute! team. Thank you @sylvaticus for posting here already. I wanted to clarify a bit what this is about.

Compute! is a new, independent conference series. There is no other connection to PyData than the fact that many of the organizing team are involved. Compute! Paris this November has a lot of strong Python contributions, but is profoundly multi-ecosystem with many interesting contributions on R, Julia and more. We want to build an event that celebrates scientific compute and more general computational approaches in the industry, as well as the infrastructure behind. We felt there is a need for something new and wanted:

  • a truly cross-ecosystem event as AI-driven software development and the emergence of many interesting new tools greatly lower barriers between tech islands, shifting focus high level on methods, architecture and more.
  • an event for those who deeply value the open computational layer, and think it will be important, interesting and fun in the age of AI as before or even more. We want to set a counter-narrative to many blackbox AI events without dismissing its opportunities.
  • an event that values decentralized governance, inclusion, openness, giving power to those who are maintaining the actual infrastructure, and fighting strongly centralizing trends (without going to extremes either).
  • an event bridging academia and industry, core developers and users, public and private organisations.

Long story short: the Julia community is very welcome at our event, we have some nice talks on Julia that you can find on the event page that was posted above. In addition we have the possibility to host “Birds of a Feather” events to gather communities, free of charge (attendee tickets still required though) in adjacent rooms during the event. In case this is interesting for Julia, please reach out to me in DM or to paris@compute.events .

I hope this clarified a bit more what this is about.
