Citation method to cite packages?

I was wondering if Julia had something similar to R’s citation() function with which you can easily get “metadata” about a package, such as its version, authors, title and so on, as well as a bib entry.

Also, I’m curious if it would be feasible (and a good idea) to automatically generate a DOI for a newly registered package to be able to track them?

Maybe this could compel or help users to cite packages?

Not that I know of, but this almost sounds like something Pkg3 should be able to automatically take care of with some nifty PRs.
