Anybody with an M1 Mac able to use the VSCode debugger? Unusably slow for me

Just wondering if anybody has the same experience on an M1 Mac. I like the features of the VSCode debugger but when I try to step through a Julia file it runs so slow that hitting the pause button only registers about 10 seconds later
