Hi everyone,
As part of the open-source peer review for the Open Networked Earth (O.N.E.) civilizational framework (repository kyberlex/ONE on GitHub), we are seeking Julia modelers, complex systems researchers, and Co-Stewards to review, stress-test, and co-develop our scientific discrete-event co-simulation engine: SIMONE.
SIMONE models socio-technical resilience and biophysical resource allocation across four tightly coupled layers:
- Layer 0: Biophysical & Hydrological Substrate — Darcy aquifer recharge, Penman-Monteith evapotranspiration, hourly solar/wind exergy flux.
- Layer 1: Technical-Productive Logistics & BOM — Stochastic component wear (Weibull MTBF), convex non-monetary resource allocation, and closed-loop material balances.
- Layer 2: Heterogeneous Agent-Based Dynamics — Micro-founded human agents (HEXACO-H psychometrics, Camerer k-depth, labor capacity, bus-factor bottlenecks).
- Layer 3: Institutional Finite State Machines — Statistical sortition councils with odd-parity quorum rotation and non-carceral metabolic clamping.
Open Computational & Modeling Doubts:
- Numerical Stability & Stiffness: Does coupling discrete human agents (via
Agents.jl) with continuous ODE stock-and-flow systems introduce stiffness, step-size collapses, or numerical divergence when scaling to bioregional clusters (10,000+ agents)? - Event-Driven Degradation: What is the most idiomatic Julia approach for coupling continuous mass/energy balances with discrete stochastic hardware failures (Weibull MTBF) without intractable allocation overhead?
Everything is 100% free software and open science (AGPL-3.0, zero commercialization, zero tokens).
We are actively looking for Julia co-maintainers and invite critics to point out flaws in our assumptions:
