Postdoctoral Fellowship in Packing Problems

We are seeking candidates for two post-doctoral positions to work at
the Institute of Computing of the University of Campinas, Brazil. Each
position extends for 9 months.

Goals: Development of approximation algorithms and exact solution
methods for packing problems, mainly for two- and three-dimensional
versions. Obtain new or better approximation factors for variants or
improved models and algorithms for packing problems.

Specifications: The candidate must have a Ph.D. in Computer Science,
Operations Research, Applied Mathematics, or in a related field, with
Ph.D. finished less than seven years before the beginning of the PD
fellowship. Should demonstrate a solid background in the design and
analysis of algorithms, approximation algorithms, integer programming,
heuristics, and meta-heuristics.

• Curriculum Vitae with a list of publications, and previous experience;
• A motivation letter for the application;
• Contact of an earlier supervisor/advisor that can give a recommendation.

Each selected candidate will receive a Post-Doctoral fellowship from
the São Paulo Research Foundation (FAPESP) in the amount of R$
8.479,20 monthly and a research contingency fund, equivalent to 10% of
the annual value of the fellowship which should be spent in items
directly related to the research activity.
