Hi there, I am looking for a PostDoc (or outstanding PhD student) to work with us on Machine Learning for understanding Earth System processes. We are a newly established Research Center for Earth System Research at Leipzig University, Germany and generally work on topics related to climate and biodiversity research. In this project we will focus on explainable AI methods for detecting anomalies in high-dimensional Earth system time series data. Specifically, we aim to detect the signatures of climate extreme events in forest ecosystems and forecast their dynamics.
