The Center for Data and Simulation Science (CDS) is looking for a Postdoc (f/m/d) in the area of Scientific Computing/HPC in the group of Prof. Dr.-Ing. Gregor Gassner (Numerical Simulation | Division of Mathematics, University of Cologne). The CDS is a central scientific institution and one of the interfaculty research centers of the University of Cologne. YOUR TASKS
» Research and teaching in an international team
» Extension/Implementation within a parallel Discontinuous Galerkin simulation software
» Porting a parallel CPU code to GPU systems
» Participation at international workshops and conferences
» Working on the project ADAPTEX within a BMBF funded research collaboration
» Connecting the DG code to the parallel AMR library t8code
YOUR PROFILE
» Excellent PhD thesis in applied math/numerics/scientific computing or related fields
» Publications in an international journal/participation at conferences is desirable
» Experience in development and design of numerical simulation software, in particular with experience in HPC
» Programming languages, e.g., Julia, Fortran, C/C++
» Expertise in the area of numerical methods for compressible fluid dynamics and hyperbolic PDEs (e.g. Discontinuous
Galerkin method and/or Finite Volume methods)
» Expertise in the area of GPU computing/development desirable
» Very good command in spoken and written English
The position is available from 01.05.2023 on a full-time basis and is limited until 31.10.2025.
