Package versions, how to make it less confusing?

I have been answering some discourse posts where newcomers have some trouble managing package versions.
They add a package and it does not do whatever the readme states.

A possible change in Pkg, could be:
Once you add a package it says the latest version next to the version that you are downloading and highlights the fact you are not in the latest version.
Maybe even ask the user if they want to proceed with some version that is not the latest.
Possibly ] st could also provide that info of packages not being on the latest version.

preferably with a color coding that this is bad because the pkg install is super fast now days :D. But a red/yellow/orange color helps people know, “hey you’re not up to date”
