Wow, I just posted this: Precompilation much slower in 1.11, 1.12 than in LTS (1.10) and then was pointed to this thread.
Indeed I have the exact same frustration as the original poster, both with precompile times and runtimes. You can look at my Github actions here and see that, for every single release, 1.11 and 1.12 are much longer to precompile than 1.10. I have been only using LTS, and also point my users to install LTS specifically in my installation instructions. In my view, the default Julia (e.g. when you install juliaup) should be LTS. Nonetheless, I have concerns that in the future when LTS is upgraded to a version above 1.10, 1.10 won’t be supported anymore…
We should change the title of this thread, because it is not just a Pluto.jl problem. This is across the ecosystem.
