I just came across this pattern of overloading Makielayout.get_ticks() for a custom axis . Such an elegant example of use of Julia’s multiple dispatch for visualization of a bespoke axis type! The automatic support of the axis rescaling (without getting into the weeds of events management) is simply beautiful. Definitely worthy to be included in the Beautiful Makie gallery.
And yet, as far as I am aware, this pattern is completely undocumented. (If not for the above post I’d be still unaware of it).
Hence this call: if experts and power users could share here their favourite hidden Makie gems, I believe, it would be greatly appreciated by the wider community.
