I think I will experience a performance boost with any of the Arm Macs but I was curious to hear people’s experiences particularly as it pertains to DifferentialEquations.jl and Optim.jl. My question is quite vague because I really don’t understand hardware and how it can improve runtimes. I am leaning towards this rig:
M1pro
8-Core CPU
14-Core GPU
16GB Unified Memory
512GB SSD Storage
but would just as soon get the cheaper m1 model if it would offer comparable solving/optimization times. I am generally optimizing parameters for a small number of stiff equations that are solved over relatively long periods of time (200 hours saved at every minute).
