Hello all,
Happy new year to everyone from the JuliaCon organizing committee! I just wanted to provide a general update on JuliaCon:
We are starting to receive your proposals, and we love them! Please keep them coming, and remember that the deadline is Jan 31, 2025. If you have any questions and need help making a proposal, please ping me or Dr. Katharine Hyatt on the juliacon channel on the Slack.
JuliaCon 2025 is going to be in Pittsburgh from July 21-26, and will be co-hosted by Carnegie Mellon University and University of Pittsburgh. We are hoping to split the program such that the talks are at one university and the workshop is at another. We are still negotiating these contracts and will announce the venues once they are finalized. We are also surveying various hotels for a potential hotel block.
If you would like to see a certain speaker at JuliaCon (who may not otherwise not be at JuliaCon), please DM me on the Slack, and I will invite them (at the discretion of the committee). Inviting folks on the periphery (say, domain experts who just use Julia typically submit to domain conferences) is a great way to grow the community. In particular, I would love to see more talks from industry folks using Julia and build stronger relationships with Julia users across industries.
Thanks and looking forward to review your proposals!
