The Julia developers are pleased to announce the release of Julia v1.11.0, the eleventh minor release in the 1.x series. Some folks put together a blog post highlighting some of the most exciting new features in 1.11 and we encourage everyone to check it out. As usual, there is also the NEWS file for the full set of release notes.
As a minor release, v1.11.0 contains no breaking changes, only new features, performance improvements, and marginal, non-disruptive changes in behavior. Download 1.11 via JuliaUp or head over to https://julialang.org/downloads to download manually for macOS (Intel and M1 processors), Windows (32- and 64-bit), glibc Linux (x86, x86_64, AArch64, and PowerPC), and FreeBSD (x86_64).
We encourage everyone to give it a try. Packages can test with 1.11.0 on CI by specifying 1.11
on GitHub Actions, Cirrus, Travis, and AppVeyor. As always, let us know in the issue tracker if you run into any issues.
We are also pleased to announce that Julia 1.10 is now the current long-term support (LTS) release, replacing 1.6. An lts
specifier is available with JuliaUp and GitHub Actions (and planned for Cirrus), which will now install 1.10.
It has been just about three years since long-term support was announced for Julia 1.6, replacing 1.0. There have been a lot of internal changes that have made maintaining 1.6 a challenge, plus a wealth of awesome features have been added in the meantime; check out the highlights posts for 1.7, 1.8, 1.9, and 1.10 for an overview of how far things have come.
With this, Julia 1.6 is now officially unmaintained. Downloads for Julia 1.6 are still available on the Old Releases page, alongside all other prior, now-unmaintained releases.
