Hey everyone,
Julia Gender Inclusive is hosting our next Community Hour on Saturday, 6 April at 11AM EDT / 3PM UTC / 5PM CEST / 8.30PM IST, beginning with a short talk by Letícia Maria Pequeno Madureira!
Sign-up here for a link to join: https://forms.gle/w1f74sS35JV1vbFy6
Community Hours will take place on GatherTown, beginning with a 10-30 minute talk, followed by socializing for the rest of the hour. Attendees are welcome to use the GatherTown space for as long as they like afterwards!
Leticia Madureira (@Leticia-maria) is a PhD student at Carnegie Mellon University doing Computational Quantum Chemistry. She uses and develops Quantum algorithms to understand and calculate properties of molecular systems. As these algorithms become more complex with the scaling size of the molecular systems, Leticia uses Julia to develop more efficient methods to perform these calculations.
One of the packages Leticia develops is OohataHuzinaga.jl, which can be used to calculate integrals on the surface of atomic orbitals. In this Community Hour, Leticia will show us how profiling techniques can be a powerful tool to write more efficient code and reduce complexity of numerical methods.
We welcome anyone who sees their gender as under-represented within the Julia community, including women, non-binary people, trans people of all genders, and people exploring or questioning their gender. Because gender is multifaceted, we are intentionally general about what gender under-representation means.
