Is rebuilding the system image necessary?

I remember reading this blog post by @ChrisRackauckas a while ago. ‘Gotcha #7’ mentions rebuilding the system image so that you get hardware specific optimisations. Is this still necessary?

I’m using JuliaPro in case it’s relevant.

My understanding is that it is probably not necessary anymore for 0.7, but I find the docs a bit hard to read: https://docs.julialang.org/en/latest/devdocs/sysimg/
