Internship (Master 2) - FEMP project: Evaluation of the multidimensional performance of forest ecosystems
Context and general objectives
Forest ecosystems (FE) provide a wide range of economic goods and environmental services affecting human well-being (carbon sequestration, preservation of biodiversity, soil and water quality, etc.). However, the contribution of forest ecosystems to economic systems is often underestimated. The aim of the FEMP (Multidimensional Performance Analysis of the Forest Ecosystems: a Micro-economic Approach) project is to introduce a tool for assessing the multidimensional (economic-environmental) performance of FEs using the micro-economic theory of index numbers. A software tool promoting the operationality of the theoretical results of the FEMP project will also be proposed. The FEMP software will be an extension of the Julia BDisposal.jl package developed by Abad and Lobianco (2021).
The person recruited will be involved in the construction of the FEMP software tool, which will make it possible to propose a practical application of the theoretical model to the French forestry sector:
- Extension of the BDisposal.jl package.
- Proposal of an ergonomic software tool
Profile
Education: economics, IT, forestry engineer.
Skills: Excellent knowledge of at least two programming languages commonly used in the scientific field
and common software development procedures (continuous integration, git, unit testing, etc.). Specific knowledge of the Julia language is desirable but not necessary.
Languages: English. French is a plus (most administrative issues are dealt in French)

The successful candidate will join the INRAE team at the Bureau d’Economie Théorique et Appliquée
(BETA UMR 1443) and will have close contact with the members of the FEMP project team:

Stage (Master 2) – Projet FEMP: Evaluation de la performance multidimentionnelle des écosystèmes forestiers
Contexte et objectifs généraux
Les Ecosystèmes Forestiers (EF) fournissent une grande variété de biens économiques et de services environnementaux affectant le bien être humain (séquestration carbonne, préservation de la biodiversité, des sols et de la qualité de l’eau, \textit{etc.}). Cependant, la contribution des écosystèmes forestiers aux systèmes économiques est souvent sous-estimée. Ce faisant, le projet FEMP (Multidimensional Performance Analysis of the Forest Ecosystems : a Micro-economic Approach) a pour objectif d’introduire un outil d’évaluation de la performance multidimentionnelle (Economique-Environnementale) des EF en mobilisant la théorie micro-économique des nombres indices. Un outil logiciel promouvant l’opérationabilité des résultats théoriques du projet FEMP sera églement proposé. Le logiciel FEMP sera une extension du package Julia BDisposal.jl développé par Abad et Lobianco (2021).
La personne recrutée sera impliquée dans la construction de l’outil logiciel FEMP qui permettra de proposer une application pratique du modèle théorique au secteur forestier français :
- Extension du package BDisposal.jl.
- Proposition d’un outil logiciel ergonome
Profil
Formation : économie, informatique, ingénieur forestier.
Compétences : Excellente connaissance d’au moins deux langages de programmation couramment
utilisés dans le domaine scientifique et des procédures courantes de développement de logiciels (intégration continue, git, tests unitaires, etc.). Une connaissance spécifique du langage Julia est souhaitée mais n’est pas nécessaire.

La personne recrutée intègrera l’équipe INRAE du Bureau d’Economie Théorique et Appliquée
(BETA UMR 1443) et elle aura un contact privilégié avec les membres de l’équipe du projet FEMP :
