Not much point continuing the discussion without OP, but if I understand his post and the linked page correctly, this is a deliberately unstable problem which is used to validate statistical software against some known result. Now of course I don’t know how that known result has been derived and whether it’s in any way better than what R or GLM.jl give, but I think there’s little point arguing with the problem formulation.
