First Impressions

I am not sure what you mean by “hardcore”, but it is surprising to see the term used in the same paragraph as Windows.

Julia works with many IDEs, which is great because you get to choose. Many people write multiple languages (eg I write in natural languages like English and Hungarian, markup languages such as Markdown, Org-mode, HTML, CSS, programming languages like Bash, C, Stan, Lisp, and last but not least, Julia). Having a single IDE for each with inconsistent interfaces would be a huge inconvenience for me.

That said, on Windows many people like VS Code and AFAIK it is well supported. Your writeup is appreciated, but it may be better to simply ask for help first, then you can get started with the language.
