Are there Julia programmer based in Melbourne Australia willing to take a job with a bank?

We may have a position open soon in credit risk modelling related tasks.

The company is an R shop at the moment but some work loads like calculations and monte carlo simulation could use some Julia.

Are there Julia programmers based in Melbourne willing to entertain working for a bank?

One big worry is the dearth of programming talent willing to work for banks. Like it’s hard enough trying to get good R programmers let alone Julia. So I want to gauge the level of interest here.

I am a Julia developer that lives between Melbourne and Sydney, I am doing a postdoc atm, but I am often looking at other opportunities.

For enough money, you will find a lot of good candidates :+1:

(Said only half joking :smile:)

Is the situation that different in Australia? There’s no shortage of quant talent in NY and London, but it of course doesn’t come cheap.

It’s hard to find ppl who can explain what a linear regression is.

Linear Regression is to figure out the value of M and C for the line

Y = M X + C

For most data analysis both Y and X are vectors so both M and C are vectors too

ie. Y = [ y1 y2 y3 ] and X = [x1 x2 x3 ]

This company is based in Melbourne and they claim to use Julia and are hiring.
