[ANN] ERFA.jl 1.0 (and 1.1) – Essential Routines for Fundamental Astronomy

The venerable ERFA.jl has reached version 1.0 :tada:

For those who have not heard about it, yet, it is a Julia wrapper for liberfa which in turn is the open-source version of the Standards of Fundamental Astronomy (SOFA) by the International Astronomical Union (IAU).

TL;DR: Lots of very useful and standardised algorithms and procedures for astronomy and other astro* stuff.

After Mike Nolta (@nolta) started the package in 2014, ERFA.jl had quite a few different maintainers (including Nirina R., @kbarbary, @giordano) and I want to thank them for getting us this far :tada:

ERFA.jl is an essential part of my validation workflow for developing new pure-Julia package such as AstroBase.jl.

I have registered two new versions:

  • v1.0 which is based on liberfa 1.7.3 and compatible with Julia 1.3+
  • v1.1 which is based on liberfa 2.0.0 and compatible with Julia 1.6+
