No, it uses “Turbo”, also a perceptual uniform colormap from Google. We are aware of that discussion and those other colormaps are also available in GMT.

It looks like Turbo makes different tradeoffs. It addresses colorblindness and banding but it isn’t perceptually uniform. Twitter thread.

but these discussions on colormaps almost always ignore the effect of shading illumination (like in the GMT figure above) on the uniformity.
