It’s really useful to use a bit of unicode to make the code look similar to the math it’s based on (eg. my lecture notes, LaTeX). However, I also want others (eg. students) to be able to work with my code without too much trouble.
Therefore, my compromise is to use unicode if it looks fine in Consolas. Accents typically don’t, whereas greek letters and even some subscripts do.
