Our multidisciplinary team at the AMAP lab in Montpellier, France, is looking for a research engineer (permanent position) to develop cutting-edge algorithms for processing 3D point cloud data from terrestrial and aerial sensors (LiDAR, photogrammetry) applied to forest and agroforestry systems.
You will work on:
- Automated extraction of structural and functional plant traits from 3D data
- Geometric modelling and voxel-based space discretisation
- Building digital twins of plants
- Innovative approaches combining sensor physics, applied geometry, and biophysical parameter extraction
We’re looking for candidates with strong skills in applied mathematics, geometry, computer science, and data processing. Experience in Julia is a plus.
Location: Montpellier, France (international collaboration and travel possible)
Collaboration with botanists, ecologists, and modellers; Open Science principles
