Postdoc in ice flow and subglacial drainage modelling

We (@utkinis and I, collaborating with @luraess) are looking for a postdoc (up to 4 years) to join our glaciology group at ETH and WSL in Zurich, Switzerland.

You will be part of a numerical and theoretical project which aims at finding the mechanisms driving the dynamics of subglacial lakes in Antarctica. You will develop inversion capabilities of a physics-based ice flow and subglacial drainage model to reconstruct basal properties of Antarctic catchments, and, subsequently, apply the model to simulate filling and drainage cycles of subglacial lakes.

The model development is, you guessed it, in Julia and targeting (multi-)GPU setups. The adjoint-based inversion will leverage auto-diff via Enzyme.

Details on the position and how to apply can be found on

PostDoc in numerical modelling of subglacial lakes in Antarctica 80-100% (f/m/d)

The review of applications will begin mid January 2025 and will continue until the position is filled.
