Julia version 1.14.0-alpha2, the second alpha pre-release in the upcoming 1.14 series of releases, is now available. Check out the NEWS.md file to see what will be new in 1.14. Binaries are available via Juliaup (juliaup add 1.14) and in the upcoming release section of https://julialang.org/downloads/manual-downloads/ for macOS (Intel and Apple Silicon), Windows (x86 and x86-64), glibc Linux (x86, x86-64, AArch64, RISC-V), and FreeBSD (x86-64).
As an alpha version, 1.14.0-alpha2 should not be considered production-ready. Rather, it’s intended to give users, especially package developers, a chance to try out their code with 1.14.0 prior to a full release. See here for a list of commits included since 1.14.0-alpha1.
On GitHub Actions, use ~1.14.0-0 or similar to test against it (see the setup-julia action’s README for options).
Optimized and assertion builds (experimental)
As with alpha1, this release also comes in optimized (+opt) and assertion (+assert) build variants; see the alpha1 announcement for details. With Juliaup:
juliaup add 1.14+opt
juliaup add 1.14+assert
Installing variants with Juliaup still requires a Juliaup release preview (juliaup self channel releasepreview followed by juliaup self update). If you try the optimized build, please report anything that behaves differently from the standard build, mentioning the variant in the issue.
