If you have broad questions about “why does X do things this way?”, discourse is much better for this type of question. However, if you have very specific questions about doing a very specific task, such as “how do you sort dataframe columns by name”, nothing beats typing it into google and having a 3 line answer immediately, rather than wading through a 42 answer thread, only to find out they didn’t quite answer your question.

A strong SO presence for a language makes coding 10x easier, at least.

I think questions that do have a “correct” answer are encouraged to mark them as such. So you shouldn’t have to wade through all the answers if there is answer.
