I have a ThinkPad running Windows 10 that seems stuck on Updating Registry when I tried to add a package. In fact, after half an hour, it was still stuck. What could I do to make it go past updating registry?

Try setting this environment variable to empty. There’s other discussion around this on discourse as well:

ENV["JULIA_PKG_SERVER"] = ""
