Please continue working towards a MWE, with a combine call that only includes the problematic function. That will help us replicate the problem

This is really weird and I really don’t know what to say. Just to be sure, do you see these hangs in IJulia for the shorter code snippet I’ve posted or just for your full code?
If it’s the full code only one could try building up to there from the smaller snippet I’ve posted adding things bit by bit to see where it goes wrong. Currently I don’t think anyone has been able to reproduce your issue so it’s hard to help.
I will try to ask on Slack - maybe some of the core devs might have an idea what is going on.
