Hi all,
I’m not sure anybody cares but a few weeks ago I announced ProjecturEd, my projectional structured editor with showing a data frame as the first use case. With the new version after the package is installed, display_in_editor(df) opens the window in about a second.
There’s a new video which shows how to use ProjecturEd to display a data frame from the standard Julia repl.
What else is new: the editor now supports ACP agents in the assistant view. The assistant can give your request to an agent of the Agent Client Protocol. The built-in agent is Claude Code using the new ClaudeCodeACP.jl package (only available in the projectured registry) but any other ACP server should work. You will see the agent’s text, its reasoning, each tool call and its plan as it works. It edits your open documents through the editor’s own operations and controls every aspect of the user interface, so undo works on its changes too. You can start the editor with an ACP assistant from a clone of projectured-julia using: bin/projectured --assistant=acp (check other options with --help)
I also added pivot tables for a data frame where you can just drag and drop dimensions between columns/rows/cells and display data as charts inside cells all interactive. Also added language server support, so for example a C++ file takes the colors using clangd.
Note that there are many examples included in the example packages which you can quickly run from the repl one-by-one and see what they do.
This is still under development, but recently I was able to ask for an Aloha communication network simulation study where the AI wrote the plan, carried out the workflow, and created a research study including questions, experiments, analytical formulas, result analysis with data frames and plots, collected evidence, and answers, all of which was done inside the editor while I was watching the UI state being updated on-demand.
Happy hacking,
levy
