I think I will start using these ones
. Any source files? without the code blocks?
no source files, just pure AI slop
but they’re cute, no
Maybe @cormullion can make something ‘real’ ![]()
It’s Julia the jumping spider!
Gemini couldn’t generate me the corresponding SVG code, but it may be possible to redraw it manually. I used this prompt “Draw a cute, simple jumping spider on a white background. The spider should have large forward-facing eyes which are designed like the Julia programming language logo. Use a minimalist, whimsical art style with clean lines.” (selecting the Gothic clay style which is very different but it returned what I had in mind)
The remarks about a cat being generic made me look at specific breeds (well, also because this stuff is pretty fun), and: the Egyptian Mau is the fastest breed among domestic cats (48 kmph/30 mph), so it lets us be a bit more specific while also keeping the speed theme to represent Julia. They have unique features (eg. the M-like forehead marking) that identify the mascot as the specific animal breed, beyond being just a cat. They also conveniently come in light mode and dark mode varieties themselves ![]()
Light mode version (with Silver Egyptian Mau):
Dark mode version (with Smoke Egyptian Mau):
this is getting out of control, too much cuteness

I am not sure that a mascot needs to be this specific. AFACT penguins have 18 species, yet no one cares about Tux’s exact one. Ferris is just a crab, there are 7k species of them.
Why stay generic? Again, making plush toys and fan art cheaper/easier.
Cats: Bright, independent, agile, much more so than (say) a Python. Playful with strings and threads. They’ll catch anything in the air – hey look, there goes a floating point!
If Julia was loaded as you boot up your computer, it would be “Puss in Boots”.
If you have ever been a long-term cat owner, you’ll be aware that they support the “dependency inversion principle” (an important paradigm for programmers and cats). So, my vote goes to @digital_carver and his cat. [Apologies to @icweaver , it was his cat idea originally.]
I’d call it “Paws”, “Paws, the cat”. (“CATLAB” would be a bad name, but funny given Julia’s starting point.) “Paws”, or “Pause” or whatever. Purrfect. ![]()
Thank you very much Prof.@lmiq for bringing me my first laughter of the sad day! ![]()

I think Jules and Stefan had the idea further up the thread =]
