Adding pyplot (pycall) fails on chromeos/crostini

Hello,
after a recent install of the crostini linux package, and a fresh install of julia1.1,
Pkg.add(“PyPlot”) fials when building Pycall

Building Conda ─→ `~/.julia/packages/Conda/CpuvI/deps/build.log`
  Building PyCall → `~/.julia/packages/PyCall/0jMpb/deps/build.log`
┌ Error: Error building `PyCall`: 
│ ERROR: LoadError: UndefVarError: v not defined
