• numerical techniques allowing to discretize and solve PDEs (especially the Boltzmann equation) in efficient ways for the simulation of physical phenomena (e.g. transport of neutrons in a nuclear reactor);

• the numerical quality of scientific computing codes, especially with respect to floating-point arithmetic.
