# Which is best linux distribution for Julia

Rule 1 of using Julia on Linux (for most distros): Do not install Julia from the package manager but use the [generic binaries](https://julialang.org/downloads/) from the website instead.

Apart from that, I would say that Julia is pretty distro-agnostic. My recommendation for a beginner would be [Pop!\_OS](https://pop.system76.com/).
