I can’t really tell what this is saying? Is it saying it can’t make some type of connection to a repo or something?

Thanks for any guidance you can give!

The error is saying that it is failing to install a dependency of Plots, libvorbis. Maybe libvorbis itself was not properly compiled or needs to be recompiled.

Maybe you can try removing the `.julia` directory and trying to install it again?

Can you post the output of `add libvorbis_jll`?

If you could use codeblocks that would help a lot. (triple backticks before and after)

Unfortunately Julia v1.7 doesn’t show a proper message about _why_ the file can’t be downloaded (likely some sort of network misconfiguration, are you behind a proxy/firewall?). This has been addressed in Julia v1.8. Would you be able to [try that out](https://julialang.org/downloads/#upcoming_release)? Probably, it won’t solve your issue, but it should provide more useful error messages.

Is there a way to install this dependency manually?

Zscaler is the bane of my existence! At work, it gets in the way of pretty much everything that connects to the internet, and only few things can be set up to handle its man-in-the-middle attack method of providing “security”.

Luckily, we can bypass it because our IT does provide an alternative connectivity method using a traditional VPN and proxy. That’s what we advise people to use when they work with tools like `pip` or Julia’s package manager, as it’s pretty much impossible to make those work with Zscaler in a way that’s not brittle and prone to failure.
