# Warp, REPL, and diacritics

If I use the Julia REPL from the Warp command line (with JuliaMono font), no diacritics are visible. They are visible on the Warp command line itself and also in the REPL if I start the REPL from the default (Ubuntu 25.04) terminal.
Any suggestions?
(I’ll also file this with Warp)

Interesting. Yes, it turns out that like you I can get some diacritics, but not all. For instance, I cannot get the hat of x̂ to show.

For that you can use \xhat TAB

I know that I can use x\hat TAB, but if I do that then there is no visible hat on the x when I run the REPL from Warp, but there is a hat on the x when I run the REPL from the Ubuntu terminal. If I copy the x with the invisible hat from the REPL to the Warp command line then it does show the hat. It must be a terminal emulation issue of sorts.

Dunno - I didn’t think Warp was worth sticking with. Terminal emulators with much better font support include WezTerm, Ghostty, maybe Kitty …
