# Stan.jl v10.8.4 Released — CmdStan 2.37 Support and Ecosystem Refresh

We’re happy to announce the release of Stan.jl **v10.8.4**.

This release brings the Stan.jl ecosystem to **CmdStan 2.37** , giving the Julia community access to newer Stan features and improvements from the 2.37 release series. After completing that work, focus will shift to support for **CmdStan 2.38**.

## What’s Included in Stan.jl v10.8.4

Key updates:

- Upgraded CmdStan support to **2.37**
- Refreshed project dependencies to latest compatible versions
- Additional dependency updates (including `DimensionalData`)
- Release alignment and maintenance improvements

Closed issues also included discussion around future branching strategy and consolidation of prior compatibility PRs.

## Coordinated Ecosystem Releases

This update also included synchronized releases across the StanJulia package family:

- StanBase.jl v4.12.3
- StanDiagnose.jl v4.5.4
- StanOptimize.jl v4.4.4
- StanSample.jl v7.10.3
- StanPathfinder.jl v1.0.2
- StanVariational.jl v4.5.3
- StanQuap.jl v4.4.3
- DiffEqBayesStan.jl v3.2.3

This was a coordinated ecosystem refresh to ensure compatibility across the Julia + Stan stack.

## What’s Next

The next planned release will introduce a new package bringing Stan’s **Laplace approximation** capabilities from CmdStan into the StanJulia ecosystem.

This will complete our broader **CmdStan 2.37** feature adoption and provide Julia users direct access to Stan’s newer approximation workflows.

After that, focus will shift toward **CmdStan 2.38** and future Stan improvements.

## Why This Matters

We remain committed to keeping Stan.jl modern, maintained, and aligned with upstream Stan so Julia users can continue using best-in-class Bayesian tooling.

If you use Stan from Julia, now is a great time to update, test, and share feedback.

Looking forward to hearing from all of you.

We also want to sincerely thank the community for its patience while these coordinated updates were completed across the StanJulia package ecosystem.

We will also have a roadmap up shortly. I will also be updating the StatisticalRethinkingJulia codebase [StatisticalRethinkingJulia · GitHub](https://github.com/StatisticalRethinkingJulia) and RegressionAndOtherStoriesJulia [Regression and Other Stories · GitHub](https://github.com/RegressionAndOtherStoriesJulia) codebases as well

Thanks for this (I’ll probably have need Stan access from Julia for a project soon)!

The remark “After many years I have decided to step away from my work with Stan and Julia …” in the Stan.jl README is no longer relavant, I guess?
