# SSL error blocking packages?

Trying a fresh installation moving from 1.6.1 to 1.6.3 and Pkg isn’t able to import any modules. Trying to import plots for example gives the following error:

(@v1.6) pkg\> add “Plots”

ERROR: failed to clone from [GitHub - JuliaRegistries/General: The official registry of general Julia packages](https://github.com/JuliaRegistries/General.git), error: GitError(Code:ERROR, Class:SSL, SSL error: 0xffff8e00 - SSL - An invalid SSL record was received)

I’m not sure if the SSL record is the root of the problem or not. Hoping to get around the SSL error I tried setting the environment variable ENV[“JULIA\_SSL\_NO\_VERIFY\_HOSTS”]=“\*\*” based on [https://github.com/JuliaLang/NetworkOptions.jl](https://github.com/JuliaLang/NetworkOptions.jl) however the error remains.

Any thoughts?
