# Pkg fetching takes very long at 99.9% @ v1.6 (Win 10)

Yes, thanks. Deleting the registries as in

> [@Pkg.update in Julia 1.5 uses github](https://discourse.julialang.org/t/pkg-update-in-julia-1-5-uses-github/44331/2):

speeds it up so the time is nearly unnoticeable.

I would not have expected this slow git registry download to affect a new install of Julia 1.7.2.
