# Pkg.dir() difference between v0.5 and v0.6

What explains this difference? I don’t see anything in NEWS.md.  
Environment is Cygwin running under Windows 7.

```julia
JOSEFSACHS7548$ usr/bin/julia.exe
               _
   _ _ _(_)_ | A fresh approach to technical computing
  (_) | (_) (_) | Documentation: http://docs.julialang.org

Thanks to Tony Kelman’s clue, I see this was changed in [1d561e8](https://github.com/JuliaLang/julia/commit/1d561e8ea2da54e6b0237a34790fb2b0c76083e6) (Rewrite homedir based on uv\_os\_homedir (#[19636](https://github.com/JuliaLang/julia/pull/19636)).

So, on Windows (even under Cygwin) the USERPROFILE environment variable is used, but not HOME.

I suggest that this change be noted in NEWS.md.
